Early Life and Background
Hon. Justice Cosmas Aondoaseer Idye hails from Gboko Local Government Area in Benue State, Nigeria. He has been recognized for his contributions to the judiciary with the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).
Judicial Career
Justice Idye was appointed as a Judge of the Benue State Customary Court of Appeal on September 28, 2001. He ascended to the position of President of the Customary Court of Appeal in October 2015, following the retirement of his predecessor, Hon. Justice M. M. Igbetar. His swearing-in ceremony took place on October 19, 2015.
Leadership and Contributions
Under his leadership, the Customary Court of Appeal in Benue State has continued to uphold the administration of justice, particularly in matters relating to customary law. Justice Idye has been instrumental in mentoring newly appointed judges and ensuring the effective functioning of the court.
