Hon. Justice Ayedun Olusegun Odusola was sworn in as the 12th Chief Judge of Ondo State on February 3, 2023, by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. Prior to this, he served as the Acting Chief Judge following his recommendation by the National Judicial Council and subsequent confirmation by the State House of Assembly.

Justice Odusola hails from Ilaje Local Government Area in Ondo State, making him the first individual from the Ilaje community to hold the position of Chief Judge in the state. His legal career is marked by dedication to justice and the rule of law, earning him respect within the legal community.
Judicial Reforms and Initiatives
Under his leadership, the Ondo State Judiciary has embraced technological advancements to enhance efficiency. In August 2024, Justice Odusola launched an electronic court filing system, allowing lawyers and litigants to file cases and swear affidavits online. This initiative aims to expedite litigation processes and improve access to justice across the state.
Additionally, in July 2024, he supported the expansion of the state's judiciary by increasing the number of judges from 24 to 35—the first such increase since the state's creation in 1976. This move is intended to reduce the workload of existing judges and address case backlogs.
Commitment to Human Rights and Justice Justice Odusola has demonstrated a strong commitment to human rights by addressing issues of prolonged detention. In July 2025, he ordered the release of 31 inmates awaiting trial across various correctional centers in the state, citing delays in prosecution and lack of legal representation. The pardons were granted on compassionate and medical grounds, as well as in cases where the Department of Public Prosecution had failed to diligently prosecute.
