Hon. Justice Dije Abdu Aboki

Hon. Chief Judge of Kano State

Hon. Justice Dije Abdu Aboki was born on July 10, 1964, in Kano State, Nigeria. She began her education at Tudun Wada Primary School, Kano (1969–1973), and proceeded to Government Girls College, Minna, Niger State (1973–1978). She obtained her LL.B (Hons) degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1983, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984. She completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program at Bayero University, Kano, from 1984 to 1985.

Justice Aboki commenced her legal career as a State Counsel in the Kano State Ministry of Justice in 1985. In 1986, she was appointed as a Magistrate, rising through the ranks to become a Chief Magistrate in 1992. She was appointed as a Judge of the Kano State High Court in 2006.

In March 2023, she was appointed as the Acting Chief Judge of Kano State by then-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, following the retirement of Justice Nura Sagir. Her appointment was confirmed by the Kano State House of Assembly on July 6, 2023, and she was sworn in as the substantive Chief Judge on August 7, 2023, by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Justice Aboki is the first female Chief Judge in the history of Kano State. Her tenure has been marked by a commitment to judicial reforms, including the establishment of a Performance and Evaluation Committee to assess magistrates' performance quarterly, and regular court visitations to ensure the welfare of judicial staff and the condition of court facilities.

She is a member of several professional associations, including the Magistrates Association of Nigeria, the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), where she served as Chairperson of the Kano Chapter from 1990 to 1992 and as International Treasurer from 2003 to 2006.
