Hon. Justice Umar Saddiq

Hon. Chief Judge, Jigawa State

Hon. Justice Umar M. Sadiq was sworn in as the substantive Chief Judge of Jigawa State on May 24, 2021, following his nomination by the National Judicial Council and confirmation by the Jigawa State House of Assembly, in accordance with Section 271(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Born in Nigeria, Justice Sadiq earned his law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989. He began his judicial career as a Magistrate in the former Kano State. In 2000, he was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Jigawa State. He became the fourth Chief Judge of the state, succeeding the late Hon. Justice Aminu Sabo Ringim, who retired in November 2020.

As Chief Judge, Justice Sadiq also serves as the Chairman of the Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission. In this role, he has overseen the appointment of new magistrates and Sharia Court Khadis, emphasizing the importance of integrity and a corruption-free judiciary.

In April 2025, he was appointed Chairman of the Jigawa State Justice Sector Reform Committee, tasked with reviewing existing laws and practices to enhance the administration of justice in the state.

Justice Sadiq is married and has children.
