Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba

Hon. Chief Judge of Lagos State

Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba was born on April 23, 1960, at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital into the Alogba family of Ikorodu, Lagos State. He attended Holy Trinity Primary School, Ebute-Ero (1966–1970), Ikorodu High School (1971–1975), and Baptist Academy, Obanikoro (1975–1977). He earned his LL.B (Second Class Upper) from the University of Lagos in 1980 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981. In 1989, he obtained a Certificate in Advanced Practice and Procedure from the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. Justice Alogba began his legal career as a State Counsel at the Federal Ministry of Justice (1981–1983), then worked in private legal practice, including at Tayo Adesanya & Co. and Babatunde Olushola Benson & Co. He established his own firm, Lanre Alogba & Co., in 1992. Appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Lagos State in July 1996, he served in various capacities, including Administrative Judge in both the Ikeja and Lagos Judicial Divisions. He chaired several tribunals and committees, such as the Bayelsa and Kebbi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunals in 2016, and the High Court Procedure Rules Review Committee in 2018. On June 10, 2019, Justice Alogba was appointed Acting Chief Judge of Lagos State by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and was confirmed as the 17th Chief Judge on August 21, 2019. Committed to judicial reform, Justice Alogba has emphasized the deployment of technology to create a "smart judiciary," aiming to expedite case processing and improve access to justice. He has also focused on decentralizing court services to bring justice closer to the populace. Justice Alogba is a member of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association. His interests include reading, football, and tennis. He is married with children.
