Hon. Justice Josiah Joe Majebi was sworn in as the substantive Chief Judge of Kogi State on February 3, 2023, by Governor Yahaya Bello, following the approval of the National Judicial Council. Prior to this, he served as the Acting Chief Judge from June 27, 2022, succeeding Justice Henry Olusiyi upon his retirement.
Justice Majebi has prioritized judicial reforms aimed at enhancing integrity, efficiency, and accessibility within the state's legal system. He has established various directorates and welfare programs to improve staff well-being and operational effectiveness.
Under his leadership, the Kogi State Judiciary has implemented significant initiatives, including the signing of the Family Court Rules and Practice Direction in May 2023, which operationalized the state's domesticated Child Rights Law. Additionally, he inaugurated a special court dedicated to handling energy theft and related offenses, demonstrating a commitment to specialized justice delivery.
